Synopsis:	Baldy Hughes is a former WWII army base located at a dead-end road one hour south-west of Prince George. In 2006 the New Hope Society purchased the base for use as a drug addict rehabilitation centre. Buildings on the former base were individually heated by propane boilers. Deltech Manufacturing asked MAWERA to design a small district heating system that connects 8 buildings to a central pellet boiler. Capital costs for fuel storage, the pellet boiler, retrofit of the boiler room, district heating pipelines, and building substations were estimated. These capital costs were used as a basis for an application for the Innovative Clean Energy (ICE) Fund. The application was successful; the system was installed in 2009.

Synopsis:	The City of Gross-Umstadt in Germany was one of the first to commit to limiting its carbon foot print. As a consequence the City received money from the Brundtland Commission to conduct a city-wide Energy Plan and CO2-Mitigation Study. The study determined baseline emissions, developed two carbon reduction scenarios and highlighted savings opportunities for City-owned operations. Cornelius Suchy was the principle author of this report.

Title:	Possibilities for Energy Savings & Mitigation of CO2-Emissions in the City of Freiburg, Germany, 1994 - 1995

Synopsis:	In an effort to curb CO2-emissions the City of Freiburg, Germany, ordered a comprehensive energy plan with a focus on energy savings and emission reduction. The study was conducted in cooperation with the City-owned utility company. Cornelius Suchy was in charge of the GHG emission inventory, a 20-year forecast of baseline emissions, and development of 3 scenarios for future energy consumption and CO2-emission. The City has meanwhile has implemented some of the recommendation, including a CHP plant heating a new subdivision.

Title:	DSM study on Energy Savings in Ventilation for the Hanover Utility Company, Germany, 1993

Synopsis:	The city-owned Hanover Utility Company had embarked on various demand-side management programs for its commercial clients. The utility company then asked the renowned Wuppertal-Institute and Dieter Seifried to prepare an extensive Least-Cost-Planning (LCP) study. Part of the study was to conduct case studies on the savings potential in commercial and institutional facilities. Cornelius Suchy collected and evaluated case studies for air-conditioning and ventilation.
