Synopsis: |
This Global Environmental Facility and the UNDP have been active in projects that refurbish inefficient district heating systems across the Former Soviet Union.
After the collapse of the Soviet Union, the conversion from state-financed utilities to corporations that need to be self-sufficient, resulted in a slowly degrading infrastructure, shortage of fuel & heat supply, and social hardship.
The City of Almaty, Kazakhstan asked for a detailed District Heating Masterplan to plan refurbishing and possibly extending the services of the three local utility companies.
Cornelius Suchy was the only international consultant of this locally implemented project. |
